Thanksgiving Day!

We have new Park Greeter costumes that took place on Tuesday. Tonight will be my first greeter shift wearing the new costume. I like the new costumes way better. Not because they look any better, but because they fit better and the nametag spot is better. I love how Disney is literally always improving and becoming better. Pictures soon!

Oh, and I didn't forget! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! I'm sure your Thanksgiving is going better than mine. Not that mine is bad... it's just not very Holiday-ee. I slept in because I didn't get home until midnight last night and then I had to stay up and watch "I Shouldn't Be Alive" because a new episode came out last night. So I didn't wake up until noon! All my roommates had already gone to work for the day by then. So I woke up, watched a bit of TV, talked to my mom, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned my room, took out the trash (okay, well it's bagged and sitting on the floor ready for me to take out as soon as I'm willing to show myself to the world), and, most importantly...



Put up the Christmas tree!!!!

I have to work at 7:45 tonight (until 2:15am yuck!). This means I'm closing greeter. Most of the people I work with hate greeter but I'm actually okay with it. I mean, I kind of prefer PAC, but greeter is a good change. I'm just gonna laze around for the rest of today and maybe go to work early to start shopping for Christmas presents! Our 50% kicked in yesterday!

Note To Self:

Never ever ever under any circumstances ever never ever live in Idaho after graduation.

I'm sunburned. From being outside for twenty minutes. In Idaho. This is not acceptable. Especially since I lived in Florida and it took like three times as much exposure to the sun for me to get a burn.

On a happier note I had a fantastic weekend. Apart from passing Bliss,




spending it in Boise,




watching* a friend graduate with a bagpipe band,



and hanging out with another friend which was a total adventure, my sister is married and graduated! That's a lot to take in in just one weekend. But it's awesome. I freakin' love my family!

Now I'm back home and back to my typical college life. But maybe I'll be more motivated to work now. Considering the past few weeks I've been super lazy. I practically bombed a test Friday. Okay, well I don't actually know what I got but I'm pretty sure it wasn't good.

But I woke up at 6:30 this morning to go to the gym with Ashley. My arms are no longer sore from lifting weights. But then again, I went all weekend without it so we'll see...

We decorated cakes for FHE tonight. It was so much fun.



It was Maddie's birthday. We split into three groups and we each had a cake with three color frostings that my roommate Jeanette made. Daisy went to the dollar store and bought tons of random crap to put on the cakes. It was awesome.



The one with the glow stick rainbow and the Army men belonged to my group. And ours won! We let Maddie choose her favorite. Honestly in my opinion, the other two were both better than ours. But ours was cleaner looking.





I liked the one with the salamanders coming out the sides, personally. It was fun though and tasted delicious (after we took all the plastic off). Glad I didn't choose to sleep through it, but really, I'm going to bed now.

*So there were like 1,100 graduates at that thing. So Kelly and I stayed to watch Jalene walk across the stage. Then we went outside and sat on the grass (insert sunburn picture) and watched YouTube videos on my new ITouch for the remainder of the graduation. It's kind of cheating, but really, who enjoys watching strangers walk across a stage for a blue folder?

Is It Just Me?

Maybe it's because it's almost 2am.

Question: What is a "prediction" of a scientific hypothesis or scientific theory?

Answer: b. An observation we ought be see if the theory is true.

Does that answer make sense to anyone else? I know what a "prediction" is. That's like, fifth grade. But this answer makes no sense in my mind. Sometimes I really think I'd do better without the multiple choice.

Maybe it's, "An observation we thought we'd see if the theory was true." That's still poorly worded but...

Why am I awake right now?

After today I can officially say that I have picked up a shift in each of the four parks and Downtown Disney.

Magic Kingdom was my least favorite place by a landslide, but I couldn't stand giving any store in Disney less than 3 stars. I have reasons for my s tars but am too tired to write about them.

See, in order to pick up my shift at DAK (shortened Disney's Animal Kingdom) today I had to wake up at 6. I left by 6:45 so I could hopefully find wardrobe by 7 and still have time to find my costume, change my clothes, and then drive over to my location and figure out where to clock in.

I would have gotten my costume earlier but apparently DAK costuming is closed Sunday and Monday. Lame. Anyway, my shift started at 8am and went til 2pm. The people there were so stinkin' nice. Plus, I got to watch the opening show for DAK! Mickey, Minnie and Pluto come out. It's cute.

Silly People

I lost my voice. It's just gone. Actually, it's not totally gone, but it's sure hurting my throat a lot.

I saw the Tinker Bell movie the other night. It was cute. I can't WAIT for the newest Disney princess movie to come out this December. The Princess and the Frog it's called. Apparently it's animated and just like the old classic films. I'm so excited for it!

In another side of things...

I get really annoyed when I get the whiny guests that I can tell like to just manipulate people all they can as a hobby. I don't mind giving real, genuine, decent guests free things. For example a little girl was crying the other day because one of her pins fell off her lanyard. I got down and let her pick her favorite pin from my lanyard and gave it to her. So cute and the parents were thrilled.

I had 46 hours last week, 48 this week, and 44 next week. Before I came here I figured if I could work between 40 and 45 hours a week every week while here I'd be fine. Guess what? I'm doin' fine.

The sad part though is that most of my shifts are 10-7 or 11-6 type shifts. And I only have one day off a week. So there's pretty much no time to play. Ever. My life basically consists of getting up, showering, making a quick breakfast, throwing a sandwich together for lunch, going to work, getting home, cleaning the kitchen, messing on the computer for about half an hour, cleaning some more, making dinner, going to bed. Every day. On my one day off I get really excited to sleep in.

And I just noticed it's almost 1am. When did THAT happen!? What the? Well, I have to wake up at 7am tomorrow so I'm going to go now. Anyway, hope this was a good enough update. :)

Loooooong Day at Work

I just finished my sixth consecutive day of work. Okay, not so bad.

But it was a 14 hour shift.

14 is a lot of hours. To be alone. In the same tiny store. With the same three questions being asked a gazillion times.

"Where is the bathroom?" (variations include washroom, ladies room, restroom, wash area, toilet, and anything else you can think of)

"Can I see your pins?" (usually followed by, "Can I trade this pin for...")

"What time do you close? What time is Illuminations? If the park closes at 9 and Illuminations is at 9... how does that work out?"

Probably the top three. My favorite though is "Excuse me, do you work here?"

Nooo. This is just my favorite outfit and I wear the Disney name tag to make myself feel special. And why I'm standing behind this register working it and giving children free stickers? I just like playing.

Anyway, I'm tired as heck. It was actually a wonderful day and I'm super glad it happened. Tomorrow I have off but it looks like I'll be playing chauffer all day. Long story. We'll see what happens though. I'm still working on getting out of it.

At 3:13 am. After a 14 hour work day.

Oh yeah, this lady came in and basically tried something illegal and it's a long story but as soon as she found out I called a manager she fled and my manager is super happy with how I handled things PLUS the story got around to pretty much everyone I work with. I kept hearing as I was closing, "Dianna, what was up with this crazy lady I hear you had?" It was great.

We went to IHOP after work. I got chocolate chip pancakes. They were amazing but too many to be eaten at 2am.

I freakin' LOVE my job. And my life. And everything.

Lesson Learned

Don't leave your brand new box of dryer sheets in the laundry room even if you're only gone for fifteen minutes. They'll be stolen, however if your robber is nice enough, he/she may leave a single dryer sheet so that at least you can finish your laundry (thank you robber).

Fortunately, I had the sense of mind to bring my phone, keys, and card w/ money on it with me because I knew that anything and everything I left unattended was subject to being stolen. But dryer sheets? Really? Jerk...

In other news we played in Animal Kingdom all day yesterday. I called Gina, my friend from Idaho who worked in Animal Kingdom and she became our personal tour guide practically telling us where to go and how to get there. We did "It's Tough To Be A Bug" in the tree first. Natalie and Kelly had never seen it and even though I had, it was still hilarious and I was glad they enjoyed it. We did the Kali River Rapids ride and Kelly and I were the only two on the entire boat of eight that got totally soaked to the bone. So not fair! But at least we were cooled off. We also rode "Dinosaur" which I'm embarrassed to say actually scared me. We rode Everest and I screamed the whole time because it was fun. We rode Dinosaur and I screamed the whole time cuz I thought I would die. So amazing!

Then I came home and was so tired I just collapsed on my bed and slept for almost two hours. I had been texting a friend and I actually heard the phone go off a couple of times while I was laying there, but I didn't have the energy to answer it.

The I got up and ate too man cheez-its and felt sick. I did laundry and went to my friends apartment because I didn't want to go upstairs to my apartment. It was a fun night. My body woke up at 7 this morning and I couldn't get back to sleep and my bus doesn't leave for another half hour. I get to work all day today AND it's my first day actually in costume! Yay!
